Cholera found in pigs in Ha Tinh province

VietNamNet Bridge - Cholera has been detected in pigs at a breeding farm in Duc Lang commune, Duc Tho district in the central province of Ha Tinh.
As many as 190 pigs were found dead at a breeding farm of Nguyen Thai Huy in Duc Lang commune’s Minh Duc hamlet. Samples taken from the dead pigs tested positive for the cholera bacteria.

The Ha Tinh provincial Animal Health is coordinating with Duc Tho district’s veterinary service to sterilize the affected area and provide more vaccine for Mr Huy’s breeding farm and other households in Minh Duc hamlet.

Local authorities have also set up checkpoints and intensified measures to monitor breeding activities, as well as the transport, trading and slaughter of pigs in Duc Tho district in order to prevent the spread of the disease.
