Outbreaks of bird flu virus or Avian Influenza (AI) has attacked thousands of ducks in some areas. It takes a new vaccine that the virus is not getting into.Animal
Health expert Prof. Widya Asmara drh states, since no new vaccines, one
way that can still be done is spraying disinfectant and tighten poultry
traffic.
"During
this time traffic monitoring poultry trade remains weak," said Widya
after the seminar at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH)
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Wednesday (26/12/2012).
Widya said the vaccine has been circulating for AI is not necessarily able to cope. For AI virus clade (group) is not a result of mutation of the virus clade 2.1 is already endemic in Indonesia.
AI vaccines are now available from the laboratory clade 2.1 is still a bit to protect chickens against new viruses. But in the field with a larger dose of virus most likely can not protect very well.
"Now
that should be considered is the development of new AI vaccine seed AI
virus H5N1 clade 2.3.2.1 prevalent in the field," said Widya.
