Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The spokesperson for Pok Oi Hospital (POH) made the following announcement today
(February 23):
Seven
patients (aged 32 to 78) and a staff member in a male infirmary ward
had presented with fever and respiratory symptoms since February 19.
Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patients and test
results of three patients were positive to Human Metapneumovirus. The
concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable
condition.
The concerned staff member is on sick leave.
Admission
to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting is being
imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up
according to established guideline. All other patients in the ward are
under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
