DOHA THE Supreme Council of Health (SCH) has assured the public that no
new cases of coronavirus, which causes various diseases, including SARS
(Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), have been detected in the country.
There were just two Qatari cases reported, where one of them was cured
and returned to the country, while the other patient is still under
treatment abroad.
Following the World Health Organization (WHO) announcement of a
fatality due to the virus in a neighbouring country, the SCH said that
the focus now is on quick diagnosis, and that there are no changes in
the travel advisory to and from countries where the virus was detected.
According to the SCH, consultations with WHO have highlighted the
importance of strengthening surveillance on acute respiratory diseases
and careful examination of all suspected samples.
In Qatar, all those who have come in contact with an infected person,
have to undergo tests at the Hamad Medical Corporation, to clear them
of any infection that they might have contracted.
