Hong Kong:
Meeting with Mainland on 4/7/13. Starting 4/11 both sides will increase surveillance on live poultry imports into Hong Kong. We will take samples from poultry imported into Hong Kong upon their entry at the Man Kam To Control Point for rapid tests of H5 avian influenza (AI) and H7 AI. When these live poultry arrive at Cheung Sha Wan Temporary Wholesale Poultry Market, they will be held here until the results of the rapid tests demonstrate that they are negative for H5 AI and H7 AI. They will then be released to the market for sale.

4/8, MOH warned relevant agencies to develop a contingency plan for an outbreak of H7N9. Indicates that machine body checks on border gates may not be the best way to detect new strain. 4/6, prevention & quarantine at Ha Noi's Noi Bai International Airport. On April 3, Vietnam has placed a ban on imported poultry from China in the form of a "present for any individual or organization" Border soldiers, navy forces, police, etc. at key points to detect smugglers. April 5th the MOH put health officials on the provincial level nation-wide on high alert of any developments. Passengers crossing border are monitored, hospitals and health clinics are to store necessary medicines. Country ordered a stricter ban on transport of poultry via border gates.
