BAJHANG: At least five persons died in the past two weeks after an outbreak of viral fever in the remote Kanda VDC of Bajhang. The deceased have been identified as Bhupendra Bohora, 8, an eight-month-old baby Lalita Dhami, Chandramal Bohora, 43, Mandhara Bohora, 33, and Dirgha Bohora, 32. They were suffering from viral fever since second week of August. “Many others have been suffering from the fever,” said local Kripa Dhami. People have to walk at least three days to reach the headquarters Chainpur from Kanda. According to District Police Office, a team of five health workers led by Dr Santosh Uprety of the District Health Office has reached the village after learning about the spread of fever. “We hope to receive more details by Thursday,” Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Sharma said. DSP Jayaram Sapkota, quoting a police team deployed at the viral-infected area along with the health workers, informed that two had died from the fever and the health workers were trying to find out how other three died.
