In addition, habitual use of poultry products and frequent changes of the influenza A/H5N1 virus strains so the potential risk of transmission from poultry to humans as well as the risk of transmission from person to person very high and the poultry mixed with other animals such as pigs create opportunities for the virus could exchange genes and mutations create new strains.

VIETNAM-Unfortunately, dead poultry, the death eaters #H5N1 #BIRDFLU

1.2012 consecutive months there have been 2 deaths from avian influenza A/H5N1. Notably, both patients had been exposed to all kinds of poultry chickens, ducks and ate dead poultry.

 2 patients have died of influenza A/H5N1 in Soc Trang.  Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of Preventive Health (MOH) said, through epidemiological investigation showed that patients were slaughtered, sick eating chicken instead of buried. .. Kien Giang’s teenager died of A/H5N1 influenza #H5N1 #BIRDFLU

VietNamNet Bridge - A 15-year-old boy from the southern province of Kien Giang, who tended ducks in Can Tho City, died of H5N1 flu after having temperature and treating himself with medicine.


One week ago, the patient named Danh Ni had cough and high temperature. His disease even got worse after he took some medicine. Ni later decided to go home but continued to cough persistently and was hospitalized with breathing difficulties.
Medical staff took a sample from him and sent it to the HCM City Pasteur Institute. The next day, Ni died when the results of testing the disease sample confirmed Ni was positive for H5N1. Ni became the first fatality because of the avian flu A/H5N1 this year.

Le Hoang Anh, Director of the Kien Giang Health Department, held that the patient had caught H5N1 virus from the duck camp where he worked previously.

The Kien Giang preventive medical centre has sprayed chemicals to disinfect the region around the patient’s house and monitored the areas where Danh Ni had stayed.
