Cirebon women treated for suspected case of bird flu

A 35-year-old resident of Suka Imut village, Kuningan, West Java, has
been treated at Gunung Jati Hospital in Cirebon, as a suspected case
of bird flu, Antara news agency reported. She was admitted to the
hospital on Thursday night [22 Jan 2009], after being 1st treated at
a local hospital in Kuningan. She was immediately put in the bird flu
isolation unit.
Gunung Jati Hospital spokesperson Haris said Friday [23 Jan 2009]
that the patient was currently being treated and had been given
Tamiflu, an anti-influenza drug. Haris said the hospital sent a
sample of the patient's blood to be examined by the Health Ministry
in Jakarta. According to a neighbor of the woman who took her to the
hospital, she came down with a high fever after 4 of her chickens had died.
