VietNamNet Bridge - Ta Gia Khau is one of the poorest border communes in Muong Khuong district, Northern Province of Lao Cai. The commune is the home of H’Mong and Thu Lao ethnic minority peoples.

This area is barren, where people find it very difficult to seek water for agriculture and their daily life. Ta Gia Khau is compared to an island in the mainland.

A traditional cuisine.

The local people’s living standard is being improved thanks to improved transportation and infrastructure facilities. They plant vegetables, maize and breed cattle. They are preparing to welcome their traditional New Year.

Brocade, girls’ favourite.

Families bring vegetables and cattle to local festivals to sell and then buy new clothes and home appliances. In many houses, women prepare food for Tet. Young girls select the nicest costumes for drying to prepare for Tet.
