DR Congo / Kasai Occidental: Ebola epidemic, nearly 200 people in quarantine

The toll of the epidemic of Ebola haemorrhagic fever raging in the province of Kasai Occidental, in the center of the country, rose to 13 dead and 40 cases of contamination, sources indicate local newspaper. Medical officials also stipulate that 183 people came into contact with patients were placed in quarantine with the isolation center built a few days ago near Kampongo, about sixty kilometers Mweka, in the central province of Kasai, regarded as the epicenter of the epidemic.
A load of food and aid for a total of six tons of goods, was delivered Monday to the organization Caritas Mweka and two tons of medicine should arrive in the coming days. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed that three people have died from the Ebola virus, pending the conclusion of further analysis, referring to 36 suspected cases including 12 deaths, stemming from the epidemic .
