NGO organises workshop for workers, others

AN International Organisation for Migration has organized social mobilization for migrant poultry workers, traders and transporters on Avian and Human Influenza, Bird Flu, in Kano state.

The mobilizing which started on Tuesday at `Yankaba motor park in Nassarawa local government area for three days, target markets and motor parks in the state and nine local government councils and will be rounded up in Kunchi council area.

In a press release signed by project desk officer, communication, Kano state, Alhaji Surajo Ibrahim Gaya, Nigeria is one of the countries that recorded outbreaks of Avia Influenza, Birds Flu, resulting in loss of human life and millions of poultry.
In order to contain future outbreak and its association devastating consequences, the federal government in collaboration with the World Bank had established Avian Influenza Control Project with offices at national, state and local government levels, each operating three components human health, animal health and communication of the project.

Other local government areas scheduled for the social mobilization include Tarauni, Takai, Dala, Bichi, Rimin Gado, Kano municipal, Kumbotso and Kunchi.
