Vietnam reports another human bird flu case |
HANOI, Vietnam (AP) -- Health officials say a Vietnamese boy has tested positive for bird flu, the country's fourth human case this year. Hoang Van Phi, deputy health director in Dong Thap province said Thursday that a 3-year-old boy developed a high fever, chronic cough and respiratory problems after eating duck meat. He was hospitalized in the province some 119 miles (190 kilometers) west of Ho Chi Minh City on March 10 and test results released Thursday showed he had the H5N1 virus. Bird flu has killed 54 people in Vietnam - including two this year - since it began raging through Asian poultry stocks in late 2003. |
