ATLANTA – States across the country will soon be able to do their own testing for the swine flu virus.
The acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday that states will be sent kits to do their own tests. Until Wednesday, the tests were only being done by the CDC in Atlanta.
Dr. Richard Besser says swine flu tests can now also be done in a lab in Mexico.
Besser says health officials may eventually stop doing tests to confirm every case of swine flu. So far, CDC tests have confirmed swine flu in 11 states.
