Zoos Set Five Meter Distance Restriction |
Zoos in Gyeonggi Province have set up perimeters around animal habitats, to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease from visitors. The government has declared a state of emergency after confirming on Thursday that FMD has indeed spread to Paju city in Gyeonggi Province. Seoul Zoo, located south of the capital city, has more than 600 cloven-hoofed animals, and therefore has set up barriers about five meters away from the animal exhibits to prevent the spread of the disease. Visitors are prohibited from coming in close contact with the animals and zoo authorities are also regularly disinfecting the areas. DEC 17, 2010 |
