The Eastern Cape Health Department has dispatched officials to the Buffalo City municipality to search for seven more Ethiopians who share a house with the patient.
Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal health officials are on high alert after confirming a second case of cholera. A truck driver in that province died after a recent trip to Zimbabwe. It led to a fast rollout of monitoring systems across KwaZulu-Natal.
The Ethekwini municipality says all rivers in the province are cholera-free, with water safe to drink. A warning has however been issued to communities who draw water from high-risk areas.
