This week Korea saw this year's first death from a locally contracted case of H1N1 influenza. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday a 30-year-old man living in the metropolitan area died early Wednesday after being diagnosed with H1N1 two days before. The man came to the hospital on Monday with flu symptoms, including a high fever and muscle pain and was prescribed antibiotics for H1N1. However, the patient came back to the hospital early Wednesday morning after his symptoms worsened and died while receiving treatment in intensive care. Last month, a Korean actress died of complications from influenza A, but it's suspected she caught the disease in Italy. |
