Egypt: Minister of Agr. & Land Reclamation: request to reconsider the plan to combat bird flu

Application Engineer Amin Abaza, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, review the plan to combat bird flu with the officials of veterinary services and livestock sector and professors viruses Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, after growing number of cases of the disease.

فيما تقدم اللواء حسن حميدة، نائب رئيس اللجنة القومية لأنفلونزا الطيور، بخطة كاملة لوزير الزراعة لتعديل بعض الإجراءات الحالية لمكافحة المرض بعد تنامى ظهور إصابات بين البشر مؤخرا.

With good progress, Major General Hassan, Vice-President of the National Committee for Avian Influenza, a plan of complete to the Minister of Agriculture to modify some existing procedures to combat the disease after the growing emergence of human infections recently.

وقالت مصادر بارزة بالوزارة إن حميدة الذى يشغل منصب نائب رئيس اللجنة عرض الخطة على الدكتور سعد نصار مستشار وزير الزراعة سيتم مناقشتها مع المسئولين بالهيئة العامة للخدمات البيطرية.

Senior sources said the ministry's offices, who is Vice Chairman of the Committee present the plan to Dr. Saad Nassar, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture will be discussed with officials of the General Authority for Veterinary Services.

وأضافت المصادر أن الخطة تتضمن تحصين الطيور المنزلية فى القرى المحيطة بمنطقة ظهور البؤرة وإلغاء نظام التحصين المجانى لكافة الطيور المنزلية الذى كان متبعا فيما قبل بعد أن ثبت فشله.

The sources added that the plan include the immunization of domestic birds in the villages surrounding the emergence of focus and the abolition of the free vaccination for all domestic birds that had been followed as before after that proved to be wrong.

وأضافت المصادر أن أهم بنود الخطة الجديدة أن يتم منح المزارع غير المرخصة والتى تقوم بالإبلاغ عن ظهور إصابات بها تعويض عن الخسائر التى تلحق بالمزرعة شريطة أن يوفق أوضاعه ويقوم بالاشتراك باتحاد منتجى الدواجن.

The sources added that the most important items of the new plan be granted the farm is licensed by the reporting of outbreaks to compensate for the losses incurred by the farm, provided that the required adjustments and the association the Federation of Poultry Producers.
