May 19 (Bloomberg) -- Japan may slaughter all livestock within a 20-kilometer radius of the site of an outbreak of foot- and-mouth disease in the southern prefecture of Miyazaki, the Asahi newspaper reported, without citing anyone.
The expansion could mean the slaughter of an additional 120,000 pigs and 40,000 cows, the newspaper said. The number of livestock so far ordered for destruction is about 118,000, the report said. Japan may also vaccinate animals to prevent the spread of the disease, the Asahi said
