Two passenger trains would operate from Agartala to Silchar and Lumding in Assam daily, NF Railway sources said.
All railway stations from Ambassa to Agartala have been constructed and tracks laid on the route, which includes a 1,860-metre long tunnel in Atharamura hill range and 1962-metre long tunnel in Longterai hill range, the longest tunnel in the Eastern region.

With the completion of this track, the entire State would have rail connectivity, officials said.
Train first came to Dharmanagar in North Tripura district in 1964 and it took more than four and half decades to come to Agartala, Tripura Transport Minister Manik De said.
NF Railway sources said they have started a survey work to connect Akhaura railway station with Agartala, a distance of just six km. If Akhaura and Agartala is connected, then Tripura would be connected with the railway network of Bangladesh. – PTI
