Wong Yan (19-year old female) from Chaoyang District, Beijing. She developed symptoms on 24 Dec 2008, was hospitalized, and died on 5 January 2009. Health Care worker had fever and recovered. Confirmed



Shandong Province
Jinan City
Zhang (27 year old female) from Jinan City, Shandong Province. She developed symptoms on 5 January, was hospitalized, and died on 17 January. The source of her infection is presently under investigation. Confirmed.
Health emergency listed on 1/24.




Hunan Province
Changsha
Peng (2 year old female) from Hunan. Hospitalized in Luliang City, Shanxi Province. She developed symptoms on 7 January, was hospitalized, and is in a critical condition. The source of her infection is presently under investigation. Confirmed on 1/17. Media report that her mother died of bird flu. Grandparents brought her to the hospital.
Mother: Exposure to live birds: 12/21-26. Onset sym: 12/28. Died: 1/6. Peng went to Shanxi on the 11th. Brought to Fenyang Hosp in Shanxi.
Transferred to Children’s Hosp. on 1/14. Taiyuan Fourth People’s Hospital on 1/17. Recovered. Home. Health Emergency lifted on 1/25.






Guizhou Province
Liping County, Zhou Village
Wu (16 year old male) from Liping county, Zhou Village, Qiandongnan Prefecture (also called Miao & Dong Autonomus Prefecture). He developed symptoms on 8 January, was hospitalized on 16 January, and is in a critical condition. The case had exposure to sick and dead poultry. Hospitalized in Hunan Province, Huaihua City. Confirmed. Died: 1/20.
