The Tangerang Health Agency has raised the alert level of the H1N1 flu in the regency citing “extraordinary circumstances”.
Hani Heryanto, head of the agency, said Thursday the decision was taken after a family of four tested positive to the H1N1 virus – the first case in the regency.
The alert was intended to warn the public to be more cautious of a possible flu outbreak, she said.
A veterinarian, his wife and his two children, were treated at Tangerang Regional Hospital for three days after testing positive to the virus.
The family was permitted to return home on Thursday, but is still under the supervision of the hospital.
