(KPL) Responding to the order of the Prime Minister to control and prevent the outbreak of the new A(H1N1) flu the Ministry of Public Health and all the provincial hospitals are stepping up the preventive measures from 15 May.
This ministry met on 14 May to review the existing reporting system, to step up its vigilance of passengers in the domestic and international sections of all the airports in the country and to increase its surveillance of the land border checkpoints.
The Ministry of Public Health is getting the various hospitals to pay special attention on treatment, to prepare the single rooms for any swine flu patient that may be admitted in the near future and to check the medical equipment.
The ministry also urged the various provincial hospitals to carry out preventive work within their localities to prevent the spread of this disease in their local areas.
The ministry has also ordered the Medical Information Centre to draft a document on the preventive measures so that the health workers can use it as a guideline, on how to prepare the distribution of Tamilflu and how to work together with NAHICO.
The meeting was attended by Dr Bounkouang Phichit, Deputy Minister of Public Health and other high ranking officers of this ministry, such as Dr Bounlai Phommasack, Deputy Hygiene and Prevention Department, Deputy Professor Chanphomma Vongsamphan, Deputy Head of the Therapy Department and the heads and deputies of the Public Health and last but not least the representatives of WHO in Laos.
