Infection with avian influenza was confirmed Feb. 4. His mother reported a history of close contact with a dead poultry. The child was in a good general condition. The MOHP reported this was the 54rd case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Egypt. 23 of the cases have been fatal.

The MOHP said the girl was in good and stable condition Jan. 26. Her mother reported a history of close contact with sick poultry. The WHO reported this was the 53rd case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Egypt; 23 of the cases have been fatal.
