Vietnam: 69 cases of acute diarrhea caused by cholera, 14,432 cases of dengue fever

Notified by the Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health, beginning in 2010 until now (06/04/2010), the country recorded 69 cases of acute diarrhea caused by cholera, no death case death. 69 patients in nine provinces / cities: Hai Phong (01 cases), Tay Ninh (01 cases), Bac Ninh (02 cases), Hanoi (04 cases), Henan (04 cases) Hai Duong (05 cases), TP. Ho Chi Minh City (09 cases), An Giang province (17 cases) and Ben (26 cases).

Situation of dengue fever, up to 04.06.2010, the country recorded 14,432 dengue cases, including 15 deaths. Over the same period in 2009, some have decreased 27%, down three death cases (infected: 19 778, deaths: 18).

Patients with hemorrhagic fever mainly mild (level I, II). Terms have concentrated mainly in southern areas: accounting for 71.6% of the problems of the country and accounts for 91.7% of deaths in the country.

Before the disease situation, the Health Ministry has directed the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology / Pasteur, Department of Health in provinces / cities to set up working groups to support, and direct to direct, local support against acute diarrhea caused by cholera, strengthen surveillance to detect cases early, thorough handling of the outbreak, control, not to spread to the community service and conduct propaganda for the people proactive measures to prevent acute diarrhea.

According to informed spokespersons of the Ministry of Health on the field of Preventive Medicine, the situation of acute diarrhea caused by cholera is under control.

The Health Ministry has provided all Project Management Team dengue prevention and central regions; directing the Department of Health, Preventive Medicine Center of the provinces / cities implementing preventive measures hemorrhage; reserve active chemicals and equipment available to assist local service deployment combat.
