Dozens of villages in three districts, Kabupaten Pekalongan, a malaria endemic area, so residents are suggested to further improve the cleanliness of their environment, said the Head of Disease Control Section of the District Health Office Pekalongan, Suswondo.


"Kondisi cuaca yang tak menentu dan lingkungan daerah yang kotor akan berpotensi berkembangnya nyamuk anopheles sebagai penyebab penyakit malaria," katanya di Pekalongan, Senin (18/10).

Menurut dia belasan desa sebagai endemis penyakit malaria tersebut berada di daerah atas wilayah tiga kecamatan, yaitu Paninggaran, Kandangserang, dan Lebakbarang.

Ketiga kecamatan tersebut, katanya, dulunya juga mempunyai riwayat menjadi endemis penyakit malaria karena nyamuk anopheles banyak bersarang di daerah tersebut.

"Selain itu, di tiga daerah itu, juga banyak perindukan nyamuk anopheles yang sulit diberantas dan dipantau, apalagi belasan desa di tiga kecamatan berada di daerah kawasan hutan," katanya.

Ia mengatakan penyakit malaria juga disebut sebagai penyakit impor karena dibawa oleh warga yang pernah pengidap penyakit itu dan berdomisili di daerah endemis malaria kemudian berpindah ke daerah lain.

He said malaria was also referred to as diseases carried by imported because residents who have people with the disease and living in malaria endemic areas and then move to another area.


Saat berpindah ke daerah lain, katanya, warga yang mengidap penyakit itu sulit terdeteksi padahal bibit penyakit tersebut mudah menular.
