Vietnam: $ 25 million to strengthen anti-bird flu in humans

The Prime Minister has approved a policy to increase capital, additional $ 25 million for the project "Prevention of avian flu, human flu and pandemic prevention in Vietnam" (VAHIP). The capital increase funded from loans.

Borrowed capital to increase capacity to prevent avian influenza in humans.

Loan capital sources include the International Development Association (IDA) of World Bank (WB) is $ 10 million, non-refundable aid of the Trust Fund for Avian Influenza Prevention and Human Influenza (AHIF ) is $ 13 million and counterpart fund is $ 2 million.

Prime Minister requests in the process of approving the project, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ministry of Health to receive comments from relevant agencies to use World Bank loans efficiently, ensuring protection project was implemented according to schedule, achieving the set objectives.

VAHIP project was implemented in 11 provinces: Lang Son, Hanoi, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang and Dong Thap province with the goal of improving Results of the veterinary services and health, reduce health risks for humans and poultry caused by avian influenza.

Also, through activities and projects will contribute to disease control highly pathogenic avian influenza at the national level by controlling outbreaks in poultry in the original, early detection and response to cases of infectious infection in humans and poultry, and prepared in case of health pandemics occurred in the next period.
