Japanese prince to visit Laos for chicken research
Akishino, accompanied by his daughter Mako, is scheduled to arrive in Vientiane from Bangkok on a Thai Airways International flight on Wednesday and remain in the Lao capital until Saturday, the Vientiane Times reported citing the Lao Foreign Ministry. The ministry said in a statement that while in Laos the prince will "continue research on the relationship between humans and wild chickens," presumably in connection with the spread of diseases such as avian influenza. The royal visit follows Lao President Choummaly Sayasone's official four-day visit to Japan to mark the 55th anniversary of bilateral ties between the two Asian nations earlier this month.
