The starling corpses were positive for the H5N1 virus tests

A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said today (May 7), seized in Yuen Long on April 27, starling body after a number of tests, and confirmed to be H5N1 positive reaction.

Starling corpse on April 27, Yuen Long, near the Royal Palms Meng Nika diameter was found and collected. The starling is a common resident bird in Hong Kong.

AFCD will continue to inspect poultry farms to ensure that proper precautions against avian influenza.

The spokesman reminded the public to observe good personal hygiene, avoid contact with wild birds or live poultry.

He said: "Members of the public to wash their hands immediately after contact with birds, to keep clear.
