Berlin - 26 - 8 (KUNA) - The information department of the German government today announced the spread of swine flu in the ranks of the German army units operating there as part of the international forces helping to establish security in Afghanistan (ISAF). A statement issued by the Department that the German army (Bondsver) decided that as of today to cut flights to Afghanistan for fear of transmission of swine flu of the German military sites in the northern Afghan areas to Germany.
The department attributed to a spokesman for the leadership of the German army for Afghanistan, based in Potsdam near Berlin, saying that he has been identified at the end of the last week 25 cases of swine flu infection in a German military base in the region of Mazar-i-Sharif.
He noted that the quarantine stressing (and health reasons) was imposed on wounded soldiers and will not be exposed to German troops in Afghanistan at risk.
