1,400 poultry killed after bird flu outbreak

DIEN BIEN — As many as 1,400 poultry were culled due to suspected bird flu virus (H5N1) infections yesterday in two communes of Dien Bien Province, said Cao Thi Tuyet Lan from the provincial Animal Health Division.

Staff from the Dien Bien District Medical Centre and the division were sent to the communes to spray chemicals and instruct local residents how to prevent an outbreak of the virus, Lan said.
