I. HIGHLIGHTS/KEY PRIORITIES

• President René Préval, accompanied by several ministers travelled to St Marc where a round table discussion was held with local authorities to discuss how best to respond to the crisis.

• Today the death toll increased by 45 while the number of cases rose by 369 across the Artibonite, Central and West departments.

• WFP has started the distribution of 9,000 ready-to-eat meals as well as High Energy Biscuits at Saint-Nicolas hospital in Saint-Marc.

• The increase in cases is growing at a less rapid rate, nevertheless the United Nations in Haiti in support of the government is preparing to respond to a greater number of cases across the country.

• Relief efforts continue as the government, MINUSTAH, UN agencies and NGOs continuing to provide assistance in a growing number of locations.

• The United Nations in Haiti in support of the government is preparing to respond to a greater number of cases across the country. The rate by which the number of confirmed cases is reported is less than that which occurred in the initial days of the outbreak.

• The Government of Haiti, United Nations, humanitarian partners are doing everything they can to slow the spread of this lethal disease even as they prepare for the worst-case scenario which is a national outbreak.
