The Hai Duong authorities on Thursday exterminated more than three tonnes of smuggled chickens, which were seized in the province.
The Hai Duong Police, in co-ordination with the provincial Market Watch, confiscated 1.6 tonne of smuggled chickens being transported in a lorry. The driver said he had been hired to transport the chickens by a man in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
On the same day, local authorities confiscated 1.5 tonnes of illegal chickens in another lorry.
The drivers and owners of the goods were fined a total of VND7 million (US$410).
