Investigate if 5 people are infected with influenza in Colombia

Colombian authorities announced today they are studying the health status of five people who show symptoms of swine influenza after visiting Mexico in recent days, official sources reported

Health Secretary of Bogota, Hector Zambrano, said that samples were sent to Atlanta five patients to determine whether or not they are ill with swine flu, which left 20 dead in Mexico, including some 60 deaths that occurred in the country influenza.

"These people came about four or five days in Mexico were presented to institutions (health) saying they have flu symptoms and therefore were notified and are doing an epidemiological monitoring for the presence of this virus," the official .

According to Zambrano, the five people are in their homes and their doctors are monitoring his medical table.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Protection, Diego Palacio, said he held a videoconference with the various Secretaries of Health of the country to discuss the situation that occurred in Mexico.

"We need to be an outstanding flu at the moment is to put all the care that no question of where to run away but the doctor treating the person is in your house, not having contact with others," he said.

Meanwhile, the State Agricultural Institute (ICA), explained that the checks have been increased at airports, ports and border crossings. So far no cases have been reported for swine influenza in Colombia.
