Cabinet reviews the current position of the different types of flu

Review the Council of Ministers at a meeting chaired by Dr. Ahmed Nazif in the 5-13-2009 to the current situation of different types of flu and the government's action - especially the Ministry of Health - to prepare for emergencies and the potential transformation of the disease to swine flu pandemic with a presentation by Minister of Health Ministry's plan to face the prospects.

The premier added that the Government's efforts in the face of the threat of swine flu is to focus on the following main topics:.

First: try to protect Egypt from the virus and, through tighter houses in particular with regard to strict newcomers from places hit by the disease in particular.

Second: take all the medical procedures for early detection of cases of infection occur in the event and focus on the prevention of the society and individuals.

III: Preparedness to deal with possible cases and to provide prompt treatment of cases of infection and the development of scenarios commensurate with the size of the case.

Fourth: The Plan of development and modernization of pig farms on the level of the Republic, where Prime Minister pointed out that the Government had established an integrated project for the development of these farms under the government plan to cope with bird flu based on the seriousness of the farms because of the random health conditions deteriorating and unsafe, however, that the repercussions of the new bear the risk of swine flu made it necessary to modify this trend.

A spokesman on behalf of the Council of Ministers that the report included:

1 - Establishment of a Committee of the Ministry of Health to manage the crisis and committees in all health departments nationwide.

2 - raising the level of surveillance for all types of influenza, including bird flu, and pigs and to monitor the situation and the global epidemiological analysis of all data at the local level and globally.

3 - Development of laboratory services by:

- To provide the necessary diagnostic reagent.

- Increase the efficiency of laboratories.

- The establishment and operation of a plant 2 governorates (Alexandria, Minya) in addition to the central Ministry of Health laboratories.

- Creating a factor of 4 provinces (Western, Aswan, Kafr El-Sheikh, Assiut).

4 - the provision of medicines, vaccines and supplies and equipment, where the contract has been signed on the number of 2.5 million doses of the antiviral drug Tamiflu, and is contracted for the provision of 2.5 million doses of the antiviral drug Tamiflu and the provision of disinfectants (1.5 million liters of disinfectant), and to provide strategic storage enough for a period of 4 to 6 months (compulsory vaccination of children and pupils in schools and emergency vaccines and vaccines).

5 - Development of quarantine procedures through:

- Ministry of Higher Education and university hospitals to prepare for pandemic plans for the work at the level of university hospitals.

- Ministry of Transport and Communications to develop a plan to clean up and clean means of transport and other transport.

- Ministry of Housing to prepare for a pandemic and the continuing work of the vital facilities during the crisis.

- Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for the operation of the service hotline Smart Village.

9 - the implementation of the plan dealing with the media and citizens by:

- Dealing with the media in Egypt, the epidemiological situation with transparency.

- Increasing the phone lines to the hotline on influenza illness (105) to the line 30 to respond to the queries of citizens over 24 hours.

- The implementation of an information campaign to raise the awareness of citizens (Disclaimer television, radio Disclaimer).

- Printing and distribution of the number of 2 million Poster, posters and brochures to members of the community and provide educational material and for tourists coming from abroad and traveling to perform Umrah.

1 - The need to get rid of the current herd and the closure of the current insecure farm at the earliest opportunity and to take measures to compensate those affected by the procedures properly.

2 - the provision of Helwan governorate to present an alternative to the establishment of farms for resettlement and the raising of pigs is consistent with the requirements of health and veterinary and by the Ministry of Local Development to oversee the implementation of this approach is fast in this regard had been approved by the cabinet on the President's decision to allocate some plots of state-owned land for the benefit of Ministry of Local Development for this purpose.
