The US is to widen its ban on the import of poultry products from regions affected by avian flu to include areas affected by any highly pathogenic subtype of the disease.
An interim rule issued yesterday by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) extends previous restrictions, which only applied to the H5N1 subtype of avian flu.
