Russia Reports Outbreak of Sheep Pox Virus in Far Eastern Region
Dec 27, 2011 5:26 AM ETRussia reported an outbreak of sheep pox virus in the Primorsky region in the Far East, according toRosselkhoznadzor, the food safety watchdog.
The virus was found in a private farm in the village of Pavlo-Fedorovka, in a flock of 250 sheep, of which 24 died and 11 animals are infected, Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement today. The service is investigating the source of the infection, it said.
