KAKADVITTA, FEB 12 -
Three separate places in Jhapa district have been confirmed of Bird Flu. The
disease was confirmed after a test of samples by the Veterinary Epidemiology
Center at Tripureshwor in the Capital.
District Veterinary Office (DVO) Chief Radhe Shyam Mandal informed that the
avian flu was confirmed at poultry farms of Pathamari-1, Arjundhara-7, and
Charpane-3 in the district.
DVO has also declared the areas within 500 meters of the three places as
affected areas. “Mass culling of chickens has begun in those areas,” Mandal
added.
This is the second time that bird flu has been confirmed in Jhapa district.
Three years ago, country’s first outbreak of the disease was confirmed in
Kakadvitta.
