Rabid monkey attacks Indo villager

A resident of Nongan village in Karangasem who was found dead on Monday is believed to have been attacked and killed by a rabid monkey while he was walking near the Pulukpuluk river.
“Nyoman Gunung (65) was found in a critical condition by another local resident near the river with severe injuries on his body caused by monkey bites. He was rushed to get treatment, but tragically the victim eventually died,” stated Nongan village spokesman Komang Semara Yasa, yesterday....

“Before the attack on Nyoman, a similar incident also occurred, where a resident who was bathing in the same river was attacked by a monkey. Although injured, this person survived after hospital treatment,” explained Komang.
According to Komang, the previous attacks had been reported to authorities, however no action was taken. “I reported to officials at Babinkamtibmas (Public Order and Safety) immediately after the first incident. Residents Nongan Bali Rabies Death Monkey Attacked

"Victims of Mount Nyoman found in critical condition by a nearby resident, 50 feet above the river with the condition of severe injuries on his body by the bite wound monkey. Yet had time to get treatment, the victim eventually died," said Komang Semara Yasa, Nongan of the village residents, Bali, Bali, on Tuesday (15/5).
He said the local community thought a biting monkey then fled the rabies virus, because the monkey had previously attacked a dog a few weeks ago.
