Jakarta, on Monday - the member's Rank the Commission of VII People's Representative Council RI carried out the working visit to the Biologi Molekuler Eijkman Agency, Jakarta, on Monday (10/11), as the series of the working visit to the Special Capital District of Jakarta Province. Uptil now, the VII Commission supported the development of the agency especially in the Biosafety Laboratory Level development 3 or BSL-3, the development of the forensic laboratory and the replacement of latest and sophisticated laboratory equipments.

In the visit, the members the Commission of VII People's Representative Council considered Eijkman facilities of the Agency research that is the Kelainan Genetika Sel Darah Merah Laboratory that had the direct benefit of the basic research strategic in the handling of the problem of the health. The party also inspected the laboratory mitokondria as the superiority base of the agency in the genetic diversity research of Indonesian humankind.

Moreover, the People's Representative Council members considered DNA Forensik facilities including genotyping, real time PCR and the DNA ordering that often supported the task of police in solving the case of the bomb explosion, the malarial laboratory, the laboratory of cell biology that detected the chromosomes deviation with probe DNA, and the hepatitis laboratory that depicted the genetic diversity as well as the distribution of the B hepatitis virus in Indonesia.

The party also visited the identification laboratory of the bird flu virus and facilities biosafety the level 3 (BSL-3) and BSL- 2. The research facilities were really needed in the development of technology of molecule biology for the introduction and the handling of the potential new infection caused the pandemic and at this time became the problem of the big health of the world. According to Director Lembaga Eijkman Prof Sangkot Marzuki, the existence of the agency that he led including aiming at carrying out fundamental researches that focussed in the application of molecular biology in the medical world, to build the national laboratory that had sophisticated technology and the experts in the molecular biological field, applied technology for the development of the diagnosis, therapy and the prevention of tropical diseases.
