Japan bans poultry imports from Taiwan due to bird flu concern

TOKYO —

Japan has imposed a temporary ban on imports of poultry and chicken eggs from Taiwan following the discovery of the attenuated H5N2 bird flu virus there, the agriculture ministry said Wednesday.

The ban is aimed at protecting poultry in Japan from being infected with the virus, said the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
