bird flu virus detected in Netrakona

1595 chickens, 205 eggs culled

A total of 1595 chicken and 205 eggs were culled in a form at Kendua Upazila in the district on Friday last due to detection of bird-flu virus.

Netrakona District Livestock Office sources said, an incident of detection of Bird Flu virus in a poultry farm of one Rasel Ahmed at village Rampur under Kendua Upazila of Netrakona district was reported.

The bird flu virus was found in the bodies of some childrens of the pouiltry firm after examining these in the district livestock laboratory by rapid antigen detection test (RADT).

The concerned livestock officials examined the children of the poultry farm after receiving an information that over a dozen of children died in the farm during the last one week, the sources said.

Meanwhile, 1595 chickens and 205 eggs were culled in the farm by an official team of Livestock Department and the Upazila Administration. District livestock officer Netrakona Dr Tamiuddi Ahmed led the culling operation, the officials added:
