Over two million heads of livestock have been culled in 51 days since foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) first broke out in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, in November.

The Agriculture Ministry estimates that as of Tuesday, two-point-one million animals have been or will be culled at 42-hundred farms nationwide due to FMD.

The number includes one-point-nine million pigs, 134-thousand heads of cattle, 34-hundred goats and 18-hundred deer.

The government’s FMD-related expenditures are also estimated to have topped one-point-four trillion won.
