VIVAnews - Four residents of Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, are under intensive treatment at the isolation rooms of West Nusa Tenggara hospital as they are feared of being infected by H5N1 virus (bird flu). The four Central Lombok residents are initialed ADT (11 months), SHN (56), STK (10) from Peringgarata village, Central Lombok, and DSH (5 months) from Semayan, Central Lombok.
ADT and SHN have been admitted to the hospital as of last Saturday. Meanwhile, DSH and STK have only arrived today from Praya health center, Central Lombok. The arrival of the two bird flu suspects in the hospital surprised the hospital’s visitors.

A number of visitors moved away from the car carrying the two bird flu suspects. According to Nurdin, STK’s parent, his children suddenly had high fever and shortness of breath. Previously, the health condition of his first child was still fine.
"Last night my child suddenly had high fever, flu-like symptoms. In fact, my child complained of shortness of breath. I directly took my child to the nearest health center," said Nurdin in Mataram, Monday.

Nurdin acknowledged he was worried about his child. Moreover, in the past week a lot of poultry, especially chicken, died suddenly in Peringgarata. Even so, Nurdin claimed his child had never come into contact with poultry.
A similar complaint was also surfaced by Sahwan, the father of five-month-old DSH. He was surprised to know his child was suspected to have bird flu. DSH had high fever accompanied by shortness of breath for two days. DSH’s body temperature did not cool down so both parents instantly took the baby to Praya health center, Central Lombok, to be examined.

"I hope nothing's bad will happen to my child," said Sahwan shortly after his baby was admitted to the isolation room.

Semayan Village is one of the villages affected by the H5N1 virus following the death of hundreds of birds.

Meanwhile, Pringgarata Nursiti health center officers said the initial result of the examination was that the patients had bird flu symptoms. The victim's body temperature even rose to 39.5, so that the officer decided to forward the patient named STK to West Nusa Tenggara General Hospital. DSH’s body temperature reached 38.6 degrees. At a further examination DSH's body temperature rose to 39.2 degrees.

Previously nearly 1,000 more birds especially chicken in the two villages were reported die of unknown cause. Even within a minute as many as 20 chickens owned by villagers died. This condition made the provincial government directly sprayed disinfectant in both villages. The results of laboratory tests on the chickens’ blood samples showed that three chickens were H5N1 virus positive.http://us.en.vivanews.com/news/read/256315-bird-flu-likely-to-enter-through-lombok?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
