DVO Lebak, Banten, urged the public to be alert to the danger of the H5N1 virus, the cause of bird flu, with respect to the transition from dry season to rainy season.
"Although it has not been found suddenly dead birds, but people need to be aware of dangers of the spread of the H5N1 virus," said Head of Animal Husbandry (Disnak) Lebak Iman Santoso in Rangkasbitung, Saturday (29/10).
He said that during this undiscovered region Lebak positive cases of H5N1 virus infection that afflicts humans. However, he said, it continues to take action to prevent and control of poultry owned by the people, companies and inter-regional traffic.
Surveillance and prevention by doing penyemprotan [spraying; squirting; sprinkling] disinfektan Lebak throughout the region.
"Spraying is done directly in the cages of poultry and interregional traffic checkpoints," he said.
He said, in addition to spraying disinfectant also continue to encourage the farmers to pay attention to cleanliness of cage birds. For if the cage is less maintained the cleanliness of the potential spread of the virus G5N1 [H5N1] or bird flu.
"I guarantee if possible clean the cage poultry free from bird flu," he said.
According to him, so far bird flu-prone areas in the District Rangkasbitung Lebak, Warunggunung, Cibadak, Cimarga, Sajira, and Cipanas because these areas are poultry belongs to the people.
Typically, community-owned poultry farms most poorly maintained and not clean the cage. In fact, many birds that do not have a cage so vulnerable to the spread of bird flu.
