Entry of chicken from Chhattisgarh banned

JHARSUGUDA: With bird flu scare gripping the State, entry of chicken into Jharsuguda from neighbouring Chhattisgarh has been banned to prevent outbreak of the disease. The decision was taken after Deputy Director Veterinary, Cuttack, S.C. Panda met District Collector Debjani Chakrabarati yesterday.

It was also decided to stop entry of eggs, chicken and poultry feed from Chhattisgarh and step up vigil at the entry points to the district. It was also mooted to depute special veterinary squad led by Chief District Veterinary Officer, H.K.Basa in bordering villages and trading points.

Similar steps have also been initiated in Bargarh under the directions of District Collector Suresh Prasad Padhy. Vigil has been stepped up in the villages and surprise raids are being conducted at trading points.
