Bird flu strikes again in Dak Lak Province
DAK LAK — More than 1,300 ducks and 9,800 eggs infected with the H5N1 bird flu virus were found at a household farm in Ea Nuol Commune, Buon Don District, according to Trang Quang Thanh, director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Central Highlands Dak Lak Province.
The birds and eggs were all destroyed. The owner of the farm said he had brought home 23 ducks from his relative's household farm in Hoa Khanh Commune in Buon Ma Thuot City, where infected ducks had not been reported to the local authority.
Provincial authorities have been taking measures to prevent the spread of the flu by sterilising the farmhouse where the infected ducks were found.
