HK: Avian influenza virus samples have test results early next week

Long a farm outbreak of bird flu Tuesday, the Center for Health Protection is testing whether the virus variants, the results are expected to be available next week.

Acting Director of the Center for Health Protection Leung Ting-hung said that the recent outbreak of the Yuen Long farm bird flu, authorities have collected samples of the virus and has been sent to the laboratory for gene sequencing, is expected to be one week after the preliminary results.

Leung Ting-hung pointed out that the virus mutate frequently, if a small change in the existing vaccine would still be effective if there are fundamental changes to the vaccine defense capabilities, there will inevitably be lower, but they can develop new vaccines.
