No cases of bird flu transmission between humans confirmed The H5N1 avian flu virus has not been found to spread from human to human in Vietnam, though the World Health Organization has warned of a possible viral mutation that could allow it to be transmitted among people, said a Vietnamese health official on February 27.
Nguyen Huy Nga, head of the Department of Preventive Health and the Environment, said that patients in the same family were infected directly from the diseased fowl.
The Health Ministry has monitored 20 people in contact with two patients who earlier died from the virus in the northern provinces of Ninh Binh and Quang Ninh but has detected no more cases of infection.
Most H5N1 patients who died last year and in early 2009 were taken to hospital too late or had tried to treat themselves at home.
