KBR68H - Government of Hong Kong lowers bird flu pandemic alert status, the level of serious or else down to the level of alert. The new status came into force this Thursday. With this status, it is no longer ban on importing and trading of live poultry from outside Hong Kong, especially from the Chinese mainland. Previous trade of live poultry was suspended for three weeks, after the discovery of cases of dead birds infected with H5N1 virus. Description of the Hong Kong health authorities said, the researchers did not find any mutation of the H5N1 virus ever discovered three years ago. The decline of this bird flu alert status to be good news for the citizens of Hong Kong in particular will welcome Chinese New Year Feast on 23 January. (AFP)
