Five Topics Discussed on First Day Activities High-Level Preparatory (HLP) Meeting for the 66th Session of the WHO-SEARO - One is Pandemic Influenza Preparedness

Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health Ministry of Health, Prof.. dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, Sp.P, MARS, DTM & H, DTCE, led the delegation of the Republic of Indonesia (delegation) at the High-Level Preparatory (HLP) Meeting for the 66th Session of the WHO-SEARO , which will take place from 1 to 4 July 2013 in the New Delhi . This activity was participated by 11 member states of the WHO-SEARO.
In his email to the Center for Public Communication (seventh), Prof.. Tjandra said that there are 5 topics of discussion on the first day of the event (1/7). The fifth topic of the discussion, namely: 1)Technical discussions regarding the recording of births and deaths; 2) Implementation of the International Health Reguation (IHR) 2005: 3) Target Elimination of Measles in 2020 and Rubella Prevention; 4) aPenyaki Ttidak Diseases (PTM), and 5 ) Pandemic Influenza Preparedness.
According to Prof. Tjandra, countermeasures related Communicable Diseases (PTM) delegation said that Indonesia has done PTM control programs. In addition, Indonesia also commented on the need to incorporate oral cancer as regional targets SEARO region. In Indonesia, smokeless tobacco is not yet widely found. However, the number of smokers who threatened oral cancer continue to show an increasing trend.
Moreover, Prof Tjandra also convey important issues related to Pandemic Influenza Preparedness , namely: WHO needs to speed up the execution of the Standard Material Transfer Agreement (SMTA). Furthermore, the necessary coordination between WHO-SEARO with member states in determining the distribution of partnership contribution , as well as priorities for member countries experiencing H5N1 cases in the region.
Other things, the activities of the Regional Committee, WHO SEARO will be conducted in September 2013, where one of the agenda is the election of the Regional Director of WHO SEARO new.
